Machine Learning in a Living Systematic Review

What is this report about?

The oral session at Cochrane Colloquium 2023, given by McMaster University and supported by Evidence Prime, presented the assessment of the performance of a machine learning model for screening observational studies as part of a living systematic review (LSR) on venous thromboembolism-related outcomes in COVID-19 patients.

How did Laser AI help?

The team trained an integrated machine learning classifier algorithm using manual screening to rank captured citations based on the likelihood of inclusion and applied the algorithm to the screening process for future updates.

What were the results?

By the second update, 214 days of 7 working hours each were saved using machine learning models for screening.
